The Mary Lyon Centre at MRC Harwell - UK National Mouse Archive - Public UK archiving and distribution center for mouse strain.

Knockout Mouse Project (KOMP) Repository - The official archive and distribution center for KOMP, a major trans-NIH initiative whose goal is to generate a public resource comprised of mouse embryonic stem (ES) cells containing a null mutation in every mouse gene.

Mutant Mouse Regional Resource Centers (MMRRC) - A network composed of four regional facilities for cryopreservation and distribution of genetically modified mice.

The Jackson Laboratory (JAX) - Provides a wide range of resources, including the Induced Mutant Resource (IMR), which selects, imports, cryopreserves, maintains, and distributes mutant mice; the Mouse Mutant Gene Resource, which develops and maintains strains of mice with specific mutant genes; the Cryopreservation of Murine Germplasm repository, which contains frozen eight-cell mouse embryos and sperm from >2,300 inbred and mutant strains of laboratory mice.

Anatomy of the Mouse - Online access to Margaret Cook's book with diagrams describing the basic anatomy of the laboratory mouse.

Coat Colors of Mice - Online access to Willys Silvers' superb book on the genetics of mouse coat color.  Includes information on different mutant alleles that affect pigmentation and the their interaction.

Edinburgh Mouse Atlas Project (EMAP) and Gene Expression (EMAGE) - EMAP is a digital atlas and database of mouse development for spatially mapped data such as in situ gene expression and cell lineage. EMAGE is a spatial database of gene expression patterns in the developing mouse embryo.

Ensembl - The Mouse Genome Sequencing Consortium's (MGSC) website containing builds of the mouse genome.  Also has a wide range of additional resources (see 'custom tracks') that can be applied to genomes.

Genome Scanning Service - A service to assist in production of congenic mice using genetic typing of loci throughout the mouse genome (@ Jackson Lab).

IMPReSS - International Mouse Phenotyping Resource of Standard Screens - Standardized mouse phenotyping protocols for characterization of mouse phenotypes.

Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute (WTSI) Mouse Resources Portal - Access to mouse resources from the WTSI or its collaborators, including  129S7 and C57BL6/J bacterial artificial chromosomes (BACs), MICER gene targeting vectors, knock-out first conditional-ready gene targeting vectors, embryonic stem (ES) cells with gene targeted mutations or with retroviral gene trap insertions, mutant mouse lines, and phenotypic data generated from the WTSI primary screen.

Allen Mouse Brain Atlas - A portal with information on mouse brain development and homeostasis.

Mouse Brain Library - High resolution images of brain slices from a range of mouse strains.

Mouse Phenome Database – The Jackson Laboratory’s website where detailed phenotypic data is being gathered in a standardized fashion from a wide variety of strains; includes SNP and genotype variation

Mouse Tumor Biology (MTB) Database - Provides access to mouse tumor biology data including descriptions of mouse tumors (searchable by strain and organ of origin), tumor frequency and latency data, and tumor pathology reports and images (@ Jackson Laboratory).

Pathbase - European mutant mouse pathology database. A searchable database of histopathology images from experiments on genetically manipulated mice and a reference covering mouse pathology. Images can be searched using a wide range of parameters

Visible Mouse Project - Basic information on anatomy, histology, physiology and pathology of laboratory mouse (@ UC Davis).

Cancer Databases

GeneCards - A database of human genes, their products, and their involvement in diseases (@ Weizmann Institute).

Human Protein Atlas (HPA) - Website with comprehensive information on expression patterns of gene products in human organs and cell lines.  Generated using antisera that are commercially available.  Significant amount of data on expression in tumors and cancer cell lines relative to normal tissues.

Mitelman Database - Chromosome Aberrations and Gene Fusions in Cancer.

COSMIC - Catalogue of Somatic Mutations in Cancer - an ongoing effort to catalogue those genes which contain mutations that have been causally implicated in cancer and explain how dysfunction of these genes drives cancer.

International Mammalian Genome Society - A society that fosters and stimulates research in mammalian genetics. Lists of resources are organized by individual countries' research and organisms studied.

International Society for Transgenic Technology (ISTT) - Facilitates dissemination, discussion and training of technologies and specific research used for generating and/or analysing genetically modified mice.  Has useful database of resources available for analysis of the mouse.

NIH - Sharing of Model Organisms and Related Resources - Provides information on  NIH Policy on Sharing and Distribution of Mouse Resources.
